  • We are living in a very complex, demanding and a changing world. Most of us cope up with life but certain incidences, or situations are very difficult to deal with on our own. We thus turn to our family and friends for support and guidance but, it may not always help.

Each one has a different perspective as each of them is thinking from their point of view. They may want to help but could come across as judgemental. They may also not be objective about you as they are very close to you.

Each of us has a view of reality like a map to negotiate the terrain of life. If this map is based on reality and is updated with time then, it helps is to get to where we want to. One may need guidance to chalk out these maps.

If this situation is not addressed then such a person may spend his life depending on this outmoded view of the world. People grapple with issues of life. Anyone who consults the counsellor should be able to expect that he or she will meet someone who will engage in a collaborative conversation in which the service user and the practioner would explore the nature of the person’s difficulties and goals and identify the step by step tasks that might contribute to the resolution of the problem.

The result of this process is to enable the person to get his or her life back on track. The person and the counsellor will also collaboratively consider the possible methods that might be employed to facilitate achievement of these tasks.
