Bereavement and Loss
Grieving is a natural process, we go through in response to loss eg. death, ill health, loss of job, breakdown in relationships etc. When in the middle of grief we feel that it will never end and we will continue to feel low. Grief is a response to loss.
Some people have great difficulty with a loss in their life. Grief can be a cacophony of feelings and sensations. The news of sudden bereavement can be traumatic and devastating event in itself and can affect people in different ways.
The emotional aftermath of traumatic events can be every bit as devastating as any physical damage. When trauma stems from personal tragedy, natural disaster or other overwhelming life experiences it can shatter our sense of security making us feel vulnerable, helpless and numb.
